Is it certain the date in 1862? As you can see from my post, the photographer of the Webb Party was Capt Bayley. Sounds like you may have some of his pix. He is said to have already taken about 100 photos by the time they left Egypt. I am having a particulary problem tracing it after it crosses Wadi el-Hasa an climbs to the plateau by Rujm Faridiyah and Duwana before continuing south. Do you know of any maps or digital helps to track it in this area. I would be happy to pay for any photos or helps. Many thanks! Hence my attempts to find him though his claims to have been engaged in 'intelligence' work. Might be worth trying again now as online data changes. My fear is that if - as seems the case, he transferred to the British Army, his records may have been amongst those destroyed by bombing in WW2. In 1914 he was already 36 and nearly 40 by the time he was in Palestine. He would have been viewed as a rather elderly Captain and an oddity as having a PhD. As a Classicist he was a natural for 'intelligence' work.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014009529709963326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9190655018830294622.post-106528987157471742014-12-15T20:56:31.569+08:002014-12-15T20:56:31.569+08:00This should be a solvable problem. Would you guys be willing to take a trip from ...Hi. Would you guys be willing to take a trip from Aqaba to Mt. Jabal Al Lawz in Saudi Arabia? I think the wall and gravesite structures that appear to be on the east side of that mountain might be related to the circular walls that have been documented in Jordan. The link being that these are walls built of stacked stones, not very high, in the middle of the desert. Though there are some military sites near Jabal Al Lawz that I'm sure you'd have to avoid, the archaeological sites at Jabal Al Lawz are fenced off not as military sites, but as archaeological sites. Yes, I'm hinting that these sites may have been the work of the ancient Israelites, at least the ones in Jordan. Perhaps nomadic communities with large amounts of people, sheep, and cattle, that might settle for a year or two in a particular location.

Here are the specific locations I am referring to. You can see the structures from the satellite view:

http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=nrxd6ckygm5b&lvl=18&sty=b&q=jabal%20al%20lawz&form=LMLTCC

http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=nrxqh8kyfdqb&lvl=19&sty=b&q=jabal%20al%20lawz&form=LMLTCC

http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=nrxk46kyg71s&lvl=19&sty=b&q=jabal%20al%20lawz&form=LMLTCCFaith Struggling to Survivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13898409431973539071noreply@blogger.com
